History
NUKEM was founded in 1960 as one of the first companies in the infant nuclear industry in Germany.
Originally, the firm's activities were focused primarily on uranium processing and the production of fuel elements for various types of reactors. But NUKEM also gained international recognition for its extensive work in research and development. The company developed both a special process for fuel and fuel-element manufacture and the systems and components required for production.
In the mid-1970s, NUKEM expanded the scope of its activities to encompass nuclear fuel trading and brokerage. Since that time, it has become one of the leading international trading partners to the industry. In addition to trading in natural and enriched uranium, NUKEM also provides and brokers nuclear fuel handling and processing services.
NUKEM, Inc. was established an American base of commercial activities in 1982.
Effective April 1st, 2006 Advent International has taken over NUKEM.
